Miami is one of the most exotic location in the mainland United States attracting millions of tourists every year. Although it is famed for its night life and beaches, Miami also has a lot to offer for families and children.

So when travelling with your kids be sure to check out some of these attractions to give the kids a chance to burn some energy, so you can relax on the beach.


5. Miami Science Museum and Planetarium

Miami Science Museum and Planetarium was established in a house 1949, but due to rapidly growing popularity it had to change locations numerous times. Now based in a state of the art facility it attracts tens of thousands visitors every year. It is home to one of the United States’ biggest natural history collections with over 60,000 artefacts, and the one of a kind planetarium and laser shows will make your kids think that they are actually in space. A definite must see for children and adults alike.

4. Monkey Jungle

Monkey Jungle is the result of scientist Joseph Dumond, who released a small troop of monkeys into habitat in Miami in 1933 to observe their natural behaviour. It is now home to more than 400 primates attracting thousands of visitors every year to observe them in their natural habitat. When visiting be sure to stay and watch the Orangutans, they are unpredictable and often perform impromptu routines and playful behaviour.


3. Miami’s Children Museum

Miami’s Children Museum is a must see attraction for children of all ages. Designed specifically around children, even the building looks like an art deco building from a Dr. Zuess book! With ever changing temporary exhibits and permanent interactive exhibits it is basically a huge educational playground for kids. A definite must see for any child to let them burn off some energy!

2. Seaquarium

The Miami Seaquarium is one of Miami’s most visited attractions, receiving over 60,000 visitors a year. The star of the show is Lilly the Orca, who dives spectacularly into the air and splashes the entire crowd when she lands. There are also performing Dolphins and playful sea lions. The Seaquarium has 8 daily shows, try to catch them all as this is not to be missed.

1. Jungle Island

Built by Austrian immigrant Franz Scherr in 1936 Jungle Island is now a thriving tropical ecosystem wit a variety of tropical bird species, primates and a vast array of other animals. Your kids can winder the park freely whilst you enjoy a cocktail on the private beach! A definite must see as you can relax while the kids play!


All of these attraction are great for kids, and you will find information on a variety of other activities to do when there. Flights to Miami aren’t that hard to find these days so get out there and have some fun with your kids.
